The disorient effect makes this spell not only useful to kite an opponent, but also to interrupt spell casting. Although there is no spell lockout as with [Counterspell], stopping a spell for 4 seconds is sometimes all you need.
Despite the tooltip, damage over time effects will not break the disorient effect. However, certain DoTs also deal direct damage (e.g. [Conflagration]'s flare up), which will break the disorient effect.
