When disasters strike, recovery starts with solidarity — and real support for the people affected Austria and Poland have lived through devastating floods. Cyprus has faced the trauma of wildfires. For the communities hit hardest, rebuilding is not just about repairing roads, fields or homes — it’s about finding stability again. With EU Solidarity Fund support now disbursed, these countries can move forward with the recovery efforts that matter most to people on the ground: 🌧️ Austria & Poland Support helps repair essential infrastructure, restore damaged public services, and ensure farmers, families and local businesses can get back on their feet. 🔥 Cyprus The advance payment for wildfire damage means faster action to protect communities, stabilise burned areas and strengthen safety for the next fire season. What stands out in all three cases is the same message: when disaster takes something away, EU support helps communities rebuild what matters. Solidarity is not a slogan — it’s a concrete lifeline when people need it most. More information: https://lnkd.in/eZecnT2a #EUSolidarityFund #EUFunds #Solidarity #Recovery #Communities

Drug trafficking is evolving fast, with shifting routes, rising violence and increasingly potent synthetic and stimulant drugs flooding Europe. The consequences are felt across our societies, with threats to public health, environmental harm and the exploitation of young people. To address these growing challenges, the European Commission has recently presented a new EU Drugs Strategy and a five-year action plan against drug trafficking. The aim is to safeguard citizens’ well-being and strengthen Europe’s security by disrupting the criminal networks driving this trade. EU-funded security research projects are also stepping up the fight, equipping authorities with new tools to detect illicit drugs and monitor trafficking patterns. Projects such as ARIEN Project, BorderSens, iFLOWS project, CosmoPort and Meteor Rapid Cargo Screener, EU-Funded Project are developing advanced detection technologies, AI-driven investigative tools and innovative screening systems for parcels and cargo. Together, they help law enforcement and customs identify illicit substances more quickly, accurately and safely. EU support that strengthens social and humanitarian action in the Caribbean A new EU-funded humanitarian warehouse has just been launched in the Caribbean — a major step forward for communities facing hurricanes, earthquakes and other emergencies that strike the region every year. With EU funding, the warehouse will: ✔️ Store essential humanitarian supplies (shelter, medical kits, food assistance) ✔️ Enable faster delivery to affected communities ✔️ Strengthen local preparedness and response capacity ✔️ Support social workers, volunteers and civil protection teams who are often the first to act on the ground This investment under the EU’s Cohesion Policy is more than infrastructure — it's a lifeline for vulnerable families and a boost for the resilience of small island societies. When the EU invests in social action, it strengthens communities, reduces suffering, and ensures help arrives when and where it is needed. EU support saves time — and saving time saves lives. EU Agenda for Cities: Driving Growth and Prosperity The new EU Agenda for Cities provides a strategic framework to help cities tackle today’s major challenges — from affordable housing to climate action and digitalisation. It also recognises the essential role cities play in Europe’s future: • 75% of Europeans live in cities, towns or suburbs • 90% need a 30+ year mortgage for a 75 m² apartment • Cities implement around 70% of EU legislation The Agenda focuses on key priorities such as housing, clean energy, mobility, social inclusion, competitiveness and security. It also strengthens support tools for cities, including: • yearly political dialogue and regular State of European Cities reports • a new EU Cities Platform from 2028–2034 • a ‘Cities helpdesk’ under the European Urban Initiative from 2026 Cities remain central to delivering EU priorities — backed by €100 billion from #CohesionPolicy for urban projects in 2021–2027, including €24 billion managed directly by cities. #EUAgenda4Cities
