Preheat oven to 400 F. Lightly butter a 1 1/2-quart baking dish.

Combine peaches, brown sugar, almond extract, and nutmeg. Spread in bottom of dish.

Whisk together flour, baking powder, and granulated sugar in a medium bowl.

Cut butter into flour mixture until it forms coarse crumbs by using a food processor with a pastry blender or using 2 forks.

Combine milk, buttermilk, and egg in a small bowl. Add to flour mixture. Do not knead; the dough will be sticky, stiff, and lumpy.

Drop by spoonful over peaches.

Bake peach slump for 25 minutes or until top is golden and juices are bubbling.
